Family,
Tina Turner wrote a song “What’s Love Got to Do With It”. The thrust of the song was that love was nothing but a second hand emotion. Tina was speaking of Eros love or romantic love which could be fleeting. But, the Agape love of Christ has everything to do with how we conduct our daily lives.
Agape love, which is Christ centered, enables us to love one another for love is of God and everyone who loves God is born of God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. (1 John 4:7-8) Everyone believes that love is Important and usually is thought of as a feeling or an emotion. In reality, love is a choice and an action. God is the source of our love. He loved us enough to sacrifice His Son, Jesus, for us. Jesus is our example of what it means to love. Everything Jesus did in life, death and resurrection demonstrated His extreme love for us. God’s love always involves choice and an action. Thus, the manner in which we love one another should be like His.
The world thinks that love is what makes people feel good and that it is alright to sacrifice moral principles and other’s rights in order to obtain such love. However, real love is like God who is holy, just and perfect. If we truly know God, we will love as He does. Agape love is patient and is kind. Love is not jealous, boastful, proud or rude. It is not irritable; it keeps no record of wrongs. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance. Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
Therefore, in knowing this, think of someone in particular who needs this kind of love today. Give all the love you can and then purpose to give a little more.
In His Service,
Pastor Rose
