Family,
Scripture states in Genesis 2:2 that “on the seventh day, God finished His work of creation, so He rested from all His work”.
Leviticus 23:3 states “six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest”.
In the New Testament, Jesus even encouraged His disciples to rest. For, Mark 6:31 states “Because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, He said to them, come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest”.
Often, we as a people are extremely busy. Every moment of our day is filled with some type of activity. Activity such as: going to our place of employment, completing chores around and within our homes, or taking the children to their activities. Even when we attempt to cease from all of the hustle and bustle, it seems that our minds continue to meditate upon all of the cares of this world.
Jesus desires for us to rest. To obtain rest, often during the summer months, we set time for rest and relaxation. We call the set time vacation. A time set to get away from the “rat race” of our daily lives.
As we do so, remember we can cast all of our cares and anxieties upon the Lord because He cares for us.
We can find peace in knowing that no matter where we go on vacation, the presence of the Lord will be with us and He will give us rest.
Also, as we set time to rest, let us remember to include God in our plans.
As pastor my prayer for each of us is:
May the Lord Keep us from all harm and watch over our lives. May the Lord keep watch over us as we come and go both now and forever. In Jesus Name.
In His Service,
Pastor Rose
