My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus Blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame. But, wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
Body of Christ,
Many of us may sing the lyrics of this song. When I sing it, I experience peace that surprises all understanding. Peace in knowing, no matter what I’m going through, I can lean on Jesus.
The question must be asked, what does it mean to lean on Jesus? The biblical meaning of the word lean is to rely on, to rest in and to be supported. Therefore, as we lean on Jesus, we must not run ahead of Him. We must invite Jesus into every aspect of our lives, seeking His wisdom as to what to do and when to do it.
To lean on Jesus means to keep His Word in our hearts so that we may not sin against Him. For Psalm 119:11 says: Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
To lean on Jesus means to cast your cares on Him. For, 1 Peter 5:6-8 states: Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
Finally, to lean on Jesus means we must trust Him. For, Proverbs 3:5-6 states Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
When we learn to lean on Jesus, we can truly rest in knowing Christ alone, Cornerstone, weak made strong in the Savior’s love. Through the storm, He is Lord, Lord of all.
In His Service,
Pastor Rose
