Body of Christ,

All praise to El-Shaddai, The Almighty God.

God has given our congregation a prophetic word: “All Things New”.

In Leviticus 23:1-2, the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, speak to the children of Israel and say to them: The feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.

The list of holy convocations includes the Sabbath, Passover and Unleavened Bread, Feast of First-fruits, Feast of Weeks (Pentecost), Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and Feast of Tabernacles.

As Christians, we celebrate holy convocations according to the Gregorian calendar which is over 400 years old. This calendar was designed to follow the pattern of the sun and is the most widely used calendar in the world. It also uses the life of Jesus to define year zero, however, there wasn’t a year zero. The year date began with A.D. year one. A.D. in Latin means Anno Domini; the year of Our Lord.

On the other hand, the Jewish calendar follows the pattern of the moon. Each new moon signals a new month. Although it derived from the ancient Babylonian calendar, the Jewish calendar was mainly used to establish dates for holy convocations that related with the Torah.  According to tradition, the Hebrew calendar started at the time of the creation.

We may ask: if Jewish holy days are set according to the scriptures as written in the Torah, which are the first five books in the Bible, why are Christian holy days set according to the traditions of men?

On Thursday, May 4th during Bible Study both classes will come together and discuss “From Holidays to Holy Days”. The base scripture for the study is Leviticus Chapter 23. We’ll also discuss holidays that Christians celebrate according to the traditions of men. As God gives us understanding of His Word, we’ll discuss how Cornerstone will align our holy convocation celebrations according to the scriptures.

Please mark your calendar to attend Bible Study on May 4th in person and on Zoom, but please attend in person if you can.

In His Service,

Pastor Rose
