consecration devo 1 1024x457

Body of Christ,

Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am the Lord your God.  (Leviticus 20:7 NKJV)

This season as we prepare for the celebration of Resurrection Sunday, it is often the time when the church enters into a time of consecration.  Some may sing lyrics from the hymn “Draw Me Nearer”.

Consecrate me now to thy service Lord, by the power of grace divine. Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope and my will be lost in thine.

But, what does consecration mean?  Consecration means to make holy or to dedicate to a higher purpose.  Therefore, to consecrate oneself is to answer God’s call by making a conscious decision to dedicate one’s spirit, soul and body to God.

Consecration isn’t about giving up certain food to gain God’s favor.  True consecration is an act of worship which brings glory and honor to God.

When one prepares to set a time for consecration, it’s not to prove ourselves to one another or to feel good about oneself.   It’s about setting time for self-examination and drawing closer to God.  It’s about pursuing a lifestyle of holiness.

Therefore, as we enter into the time of making a conscious decision to dedicate our spirit, soul and body to God, let our prayer be:

Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord, to the cross where thou has died. Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord, to thy precious bleeding side.

In His Service,

Pastor Rose
