pride bible verses

Body of Christ,

Many of us may have read or heard the story about a frog and two geese.  The story is as follows:

A frog asked two geese to take him south with them. At first, they resisted; they didn't see how it could be done. Finally, the frog suggested that the two geese hold a stick in their beaks and that he would hold on to it with his mouth.  So, off the unlikely threesome went, flying south over the countryside. It was quite a sight. People looked up and expressed great admiration at this demonstration of creative teamwork. Someone said, "It's wonderful! Who was so clever to discover such a fine way to travel?" Whereupon the frog opened his mouth and said, "It was I," as he plummeted to the earth.

Many of us have had people discredit our life accomplishments as well as our knowledge on various topics.  Because of it, we find it necessary to boast about our accomplishments and what we share is true.  When we make great achievements, we desire recognition and compelled to tell others.  Although, the recognition would be welcomed and well received, the Lord cautions us because the desire for recognition could lead to inflated pride.  It is far better to seek the praise of God rather than the praise of men.  Therefore, when receive praise for tasks well done or life accomplishments, to avoid becoming prideful, immediately thank God and give Him the credit.  Let us always remember as written in Proverbs 29:23 and James 4:10;

Pride ends in humiliation while humility brings honor. (Proverbs 29:23 NLT)

Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will lift you up in honor.  (James 4:10 NLT)

Let us always remember our self-worth comes from God alone.

In His Service,
Pastor Rose
