Body of Christ,

We all have life issues that causes us concern.  So much so, we find ourselves worrying.  Our life issues are often related to employment, finances, housing, familial relationships, neighborhood safety, physical and emotional well-being.  Because of the war in Ukraine, we may also have concern about the state of our country’s economy.  Concern of the ability to afford groceries or gasoline for our vehicles.

Although we know and may even quote the scripture as written in Philippians 4:6 NLT “Don’t worry about anything instead pray about everything, tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done, we still find ourselves in a state of worry.

The question then is “how do we overcome the tendency to worry”?  Scripture as written in Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV states “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths”.

The definition of the word “trust” is to have faith, to hope and to have confidence.  Therefore, to overcome the tendency to worry, we must place our trust in the Lord. No matter what may happen in our lives, favorable or unfavorable, we must have faith, hope and confidence in the Lord to instruct and guide us through every situation.

As we trust the Lord, we must understand, we can’t do so in our own understanding or in our own intellect.  For, as written in Isaiah 55:8-9 NLT “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts says the Lord and my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.  For, just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts”.  Therefore, as we place our trust in the Lord, we must not try to figure Him out.  Instead, we should ask Him, Lord, what’s next?  What’s your plan?

As we trust the Lord with all of our life concerns, we will have assurance in knowing “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose hope is the Lord” (Jeremiah 17:7 NKJV).   Because of this assurance, no matter what life circumstance we may face, we can overcome worry and fear. For, the Lord is with us.  The Lord shall strengthen us and uphold us with His righteous right hand.

As we trust the Lord with our whole heart, we can be encouraged in knowing “… All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” Romans 8:28 NKJV.  Let's be encouraged in knowing the Lord is always working on our behalf.  Even though we may not see Him working, He is working to fulfill His purpose and it’s for our good.

In His Service,

Pastor Rose
