Family,

  • And the angel said unto them, fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11. Foe unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:10-11 KJV)

This is the time of year that we take time to remember the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

However, more often than not, it’s a time of people celebrating each other and not Christ.

We hear music such as “Here Comes Santa Clause”. “Jingle Bells”, Merry Christmas Baby” and “Will You Be Home for Christmas”.  We see decorations, trees, tinsel, wreaths and lights.

We may watch movies or read to our children stories such as “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, “Frosty the Snow Man”, “Rudolph” or “Charlie Brown’s Christmas”. There are parties serving much food and drinks.  There is gift exchange.  But, do we take time to remember the true story of Christmas?  Do we take time to remember why Jesus had to come, to be our redeemer, to be our Savior and Lord?

During Passover, the Jews read the recording of God delivering the Israelites, their forefathers, out of Egypt and guiding them into the Promised Land.  Every person born a descendant of the Israelites is very familiar with this event in history. Thus, every person who is born into a Christian Family should know the event in history of the birth of Jesus Christ.

Therefore, this Christmas, let us gather our families for the reading of the true Christmas story as recorded in Luke 2:1-20.

Merry Christmas,
Pastor Rose
