For Unto Us a Child is Born

For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Body of Christ,

As we celebrate this Christmas season, let us meditate upon these 5 names that characterize Jesus’ function as the Messiah.

Wonderful: Jesus, Himself is a supernatural wonder, born of a virgin. His wonder was made manifest through deeds and miracles.

Counsellor: The incarnation of perfect wisdom and has the words of eternal life.

Mighty God: In the Messiah all the fullness of the deity would exist in bodily form.

Everlasting Father: Jesus will reveal the Heavenly Father and He Himself would act toward His people eternally as a compassionate father who love, protects and supplies the needs of His children.

Prince of Peace: Jesus’ rule would bring peace with God for mankind through deliverance from sin and death.
