I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

-- Philippians 3:12-14 NLT

Family,

Let’s press forward to possess the perfection that Christ Jesus possessed for us by fulfilling these 3 phases: perfect relationship, perfect progress, and completely perfect.

Due to the eternal union Christ Jesus established, when we receive Him as our Savior, we become perfect in relationship. This perfection is absolute and unchangeable.  It’s the perfect relationship that guarantees us that we’ll one day be completely perfected in Christ. To achieve perfect progress in our relationship with Christ Jesus, our progress depends upon our daily walk and how much time we spend communicating with Him in prayer and reading His word.

There may be times when we mature in Christ more than others, but as we press forward in life by forgetting the past and looking toward what lies ahead, Christ will perfect our progress in Him. Then, as we press to reach the end of our race through Christ Jesus to receive the heavenly prize that God has for us and when He returns to take us into His eternal Kingdom, we’ll be glorified in Him and made completely perfect. HALLELUJAH!!!

All phases of perfection are grounded in our faith in Christ Jesus and what He has done for us through His death and resurrection, not on what we can do for Him. We can’t perfect ourselves but only God can work in and through us to continue His work, until it’s finally finished when His Son, Christ Jesus returns.

In His Service,

Pastor Rose
