The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. (Lamentations 3:25 NKJV)
Body of Christ,
God has given each of us promises in which we are waiting for Him to fulfill or, we are seeking God for direction and instructions in which we are waiting for His response. While we’re waiting for God to fulfill His promise or to give us direction and instructions, we may say “I don’t mind waiting on You Lord.” But, in the wait, we often become weary. We may ask the questions “Why is God being slow in answering my prayers? Why is God slow in fulfilling His promise?”
As we ask these questions, we must remind ourselves “a day is like a thousand years to the Lord and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your (our) sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” (2 Peter 3:8-9 NKJV) Therefore, God is not slow, He’s just not on our time table. God knows what is best for us and does what is necessary to prepare us to receive the promise. In that preparation, God molds, shapes and transforms us so that we may be in position and equipped to receive the promise.
Therefore, while we’re waiting for God to answer our prayers and to fulfill His promises, we must have an attitude to worship Him in spirit and in truth. Worshiping God isn’t confined to a thirty-minute segment on Sunday mornings. Worship doesn’t always involve a song. For, every breath we take is an act of worship. We can speak words of praise and adoration to our Lord. For scripture say “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” (Psalm 150:6 NKJV)
When our focus is on God, it’s only then we can say or sing the lyrics the song writer, John Waller wrote: I’m waiting, I’m waiting on you Lord. I am hopeful, though it is painful, patiently I will wait. While I’m waiting, I will serve you. While I’m waiting, I will worship. While I’m waiting, I will not faint. I’ll be running the race even while I’m waiting. I’m waiting, I’m waiting on you Lord. I am peaceful, though it’s not easy, faithfully I will wait. I will move ahead bold and confident, taking every step-in obedience.
I’m waiting on You Lord!
In His Service,
Pastor Rose
