Family,

34884 the joy of the lord

Nehemiah 8:10 NKJV states … for this day is holy to our Lord, do not sorrow, for the joy of theLord is your strength. Therefore, what does that mean?

When Ezra read God’s laws, the people wept openly because they realized how far they were from obeying them. Ezra told them they should be filled with joy because the day was holy and it was time to celebrate. The celebration was not to be self-centered. As they celebrated in honor of God, they were to give to those in need and in doing so they would be strengthened and filled with joy.

The joy of the Lord is based upon reconciliation with God and the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

The joy of the Lord is maintained by the assurance in knowing we have been forgiven in Christ and restored to fellowship with God and that we now live in harmony with His will.

The joy of the Lord acts as a fortress to guard us from troubles and temptations of each day and is the power and motivation to persevere our faith until the end of this age.

The joy of the Lord reminds us of how far we have come and encourages us to stay steadfast in God’s Word as we continue on our life journey.

In His Service,

Pastor Rose
